After noting the need for affordable and consistent small business computer services, Brian Vance started PCTLC from his one-bedroom apartment in 2003 while finishing a Computer Information Systems degree at Ivy Tech State College. With the philosophy that "if you make customers happy, they will tell someone else about their experience," Vance grew the business throughout the next six years while also completing a Computer Information Systems degree program from the University of Southern Indiana, and set up business roots in Evansville.
"The most enjoyable part of my job is applying the three "S’s" to a customer's network: security, stability, and speed," Vance said. "I enjoy coming into an office that has their technology in disarray and helping apply industry standards to their network to improve their security, stability, and speed. The end result is not just a working computer, but a happy customer."
Since the days of his first Commodore 64 cartridge-based computer in Huntingburg, Ind., Vance has embraced the latest trends in technology and is currently working toward Security+ certification. He is A+ certified in computer repair.
"Technology allows us to become more productive people," Vance said. "The other day, my sister-in-law, who is in her first year at Harvard Law School, needed some help setting up a wireless printer. She used our on-demand remote access help feature on our website to get me connected to her computer. In just a few minutes, I was able to configure her wireless printer from 1,000 miles away. We use this type of technology everyday, but it still amazes me that we are able to help so many people both locally and across our great nation."
Aside from keeping up with the latest in technology, and running PCTLC, Vance spends his time with his family, including his 1-year-old son Max. He enjoys going off-road in his Jeep, sailing, flying, motorcycle riding and weight lifting.

"A person once said to me, 'I work for your smile.' I see that in myself a lot," said the PCTLC's newest employee, hired in November 2010. "I work on people's computers to make them happy."
He puts his enthusiasm for customer service, and five years of computer-related experience, to work on network problems as PCTLC's only network administrator. Benedict loves the challenge that network and internet connection problems can bring; he enjoys programming and keeping up with the current problems plaguing the computer world, too.
"Everyday something new comes out," he said. "Sometimes it's a new processor, or a new virus, that's causing everyone problems."
Benedict earned two associate degrees from Ivy Tech State College--one in PC support and administration and one in programming and analysis. He is A+ and Network+ certified and is working toward a Security+ certification.
He enjoys working on and racing remote-control boats that reach speeds of 110 mph; he travels around the Ohio Valley for these races.
"I like Evansville because it's a small town. People are generally friendly," he said, "and the Fall Festival is awesome."

I'm a recent graduate of Ivy Tech in the Computer Information Systems program where I loved to learn everything about computers, inside and out. I've been working for PC TLC for 3 months and specialize in tier 1 help desk support, virus removal and out of town support. I love to do get a call from a customer that cannot use their computer at all and are moments from throwing it into the road, and after I spend some time on it, it ends up better than new. I find that finding the solution to a computer's problem is the most challenging, but rewarding part of the job here. I live in Evansville with my wife and two kids and an a rabid Atlanta Braves fan. If it's nice outside I am outside and if the weather is less than perfect I am gaming.

Another addition to the PCTLC staff, Sayuz Shakya, has always wanted to be a web developer. He said PCTLC has given him that opportunity, though his skill set reaches far beyond the web. He enjoys using his eight years of computer expertise to solve problems while developing new skills along the way.
Shakya has earned two bachelor’s degrees in computer-related fields. He earned the first, from Purbanchal University in Nepal, in computer application and later a second in computer science from the University of Southern Indiana. He’s lived in Evansville for two years. He is also preparing for A+ certification to become a certified computer technician.
“I am doing what I love to do, what I wanted to do ever since I began to study computers eight years ago,” he said. “I enjoy every part of my job—except for waking up on Monday morning after good weekend!”
Originally from Nepal, Shakya enjoys playing pool and keeping up with the latest technology trends. He also enjoys watching shows about the spooky.
“I don't believe in ghosts and spirits, but I do like to watch TV shows like Ghost Hunters and Most Haunted Places,” he said. “I want someone to prove me wrong.”
