Have you been noticing that your Internet Explorer 8 is taking forever to open when you launch it for the first time or try to open a new tab? This could be because your IE8 add ons are slowing it down to a crawl
For every add on or toolbar you have installed in IE8, additional load time is needed when first launching IE8 or even opening a new tab. Here is how you can clean up some of those unneeded add ons.
- In Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Manage Add Ons.
- You will then see a list of “Currently loaded Add Ons”. Click on the pull down menu to the left of the screen and change to “All Add Ons”.
- Within this list, you will see all add ons and toolbars that you have installed (knowingly or not) to Internet Explorer. You will also see to the right of each add on a column that shows the load time. If you have a lot of add ons, the load time quickly adds up.
- You can then select the add on that you no longer want or need and click Disable.
Once done, close and then restart Internet Explorer. You should now notice a difference on how quickly Internet Explorer launches and also opens new tabs!
